Biography
I graduated from Central Missouri State University with a degree in Broadcasting and Film and a minor in music. Over the past 30 years I have worked in television and radio in various capacities and now teach guitar and ukulele full-time in Lee’s Summit, MO. My passion for music began as a child of 13 when I wrote my first “real song”. Now years later, I have notebooks full of songs I’ve written, and continue to play guitar in and around Kansas City. My live career started in a little coffee shop in Oklahoma City and since then I’ve played everywhere from Seattle, WA to the Bluebird Café in Nashville. It’s hard to believe I’ve been performing live for over 30 years! I started an online radio station, KC Café Radio in 2008 as a way to help other singer-songwriters be heard. I’ve written, recorded and produced four CDs, “Mojo Hum”, “Too Late for Regrets”, “Home Fires”, and soon to be released “A Bad Chord on a Good Guitar”. Kathy is a member of Folk Alliance International, Kansas City Songwriters Group, and a board member of Women on the Rise – A Force in Music.
